Moving on....

Reflecting on the work that was posted in week one of a short online course, which aims to introduce the learning and teaching capacities of freely available online social software tool. I recognise that my technical IT ability is very limited and this is an area that I would very much like to work on.........................whereas my knowledge of the issues that are related and underpin the use of this technology is OK as I take the time to read around the topic, in particular its impact on teaching and learning, I attend related conferences and have had a couple of paper accepted for conferences e.g. JISC, the BLU and SOLSTICE Conferences............. and I take every opportunity that comes my way to integrate technology into my teaching and learning.................although I do come across much resistance and frustration from both my colleagues and students who are reluctant to at the least give the technology a go..........which usually boils down to a confession that IT ability is limited.
Therefore, I would like to conclude that I am a strong supporter of technology and welcome the challenges it brings to teaching and learning...................But at the same time feel frustrated by my lack of progress mainly due to what I feel is due to my limited IT ability........................therefore I welcome courses such as this one ,which help identify what you don't know...............if you are not aware of what you don't know how can one know what to do/develop/learn to move on? regards Laura
